Married: Alana and Jim
Alana lives in London, and I was recommended to her by a friend of a friend. She’d done such a good job of organising everything else for their wedding in New Zealand, that she’d left her own dress planning fairly late, but luckily I had space to fit her in.
Alana had fallen in love with my Lilac dress and Peony skirt online, and they suited her down to the ground when she made the journey up to see me in Sheffield. I made the silk slip and french lace overdress with no changes at all to the original design, and added a small puddle train to the back of tulle skirt. Alana chose a beautiful lace edged veil from my samples, which was made to order for her by Helen Martin Veils.
Alana and Jim were married in New Zealand, accompanied by their closest family and friends. They enjoyed the most perfectly intimate wedding surrounded by the stunning scenery of Lake Tekapo, followed by an extended honeymoon exploring beautiful New Zealand. Jim had to fly back to London for work after a three-week trip, and Alana carried on travelling for another couple of weeks with her dad.
It was a pleasure getting to know Alana – a warm, gentle soul who always stayed for a good chat during her trips up north for our fittings.
I’m hoping that Alana’s dress will be getting another outing soon, at the boat party on the Thames they’re planning back in London to celebrate their wedding next month. It’s already the best travelled dress I’ve made, so to be worn more than once would make it extra, extra special!
Thanks lots to Simon Darby Photography for these stunning images.
