Married: Cathie + Neil
Cathie had already fallen for my Peony gown online before she came to see me, and once she’d tried it on she was totally smitten and commissioned me to make her one on the spot.
My fittings with Cathie and her lovely mum were always such a pleasure – these two are such warm, gentle souls and so easy to chat with. It varies from bride to bride how much work and re-work a made-to-measure dress will need: Cathie’s went absolutely perfectly from start to finish – more like this please!
Cathie and Neil were married in February at Middleton Lodge, a stunning Georgian country house in North Yorkshire. Cathie styled this elegant venue beautifully, with heaps of gathered pine cones, glass jars, candles and a peony flower on each table. She also knitted a teeny posy for her little flower girl, plus the buttonholes for the groomsmen.
Cathie made the most of the different looks that Peony’s separate pieces offer: spending most of the day in the whole outfit (slip, lace top and tulle skirt), she took off the skirt to create a more elegant and simple look for the evening, and later wore the slip alone too. She tells me that her guests were mightily impressed by not one but two outfit changes!
Many thanks to Helen Whitaker for capturing their day so beautifully.
