Married: Jo + Jon
I’d been recommended to Jo by a friend of Mai Mai’s some time ago, but she hadn’t got in touch as she was determined to find a ‘not too wedding-y’ dress on the high street. Three months before the wedding she realised she wasn’t going to find what she was looking for, and made an appointment to come and see me. Although we only had 3 months to get to know each other, Jo and I got on ridiculously well and we’ll stay friends for a long time to come…
After becoming very much besotted with 3 different dresses for 3 very different reasons, she came back a couple of days later with her friend Imogen who helped her decide on Wild Lupin, which turned out to be the perfect choice for her laid back outdoor wedding with oodles of festival vibes.
Jo and Jonathan spread their wedding over a whole weekend, with guests camping out in gorgeous bell tents at Clophill – in a field close to Jo’s parents’ home in Hertfordshire. Although it rained on the Friday, Saturday was as glorious a day as they could have hoped for, and the ceremony, speeches, games and music were all alfresco.
Their heartfelt humanist ceremony took place before a beautiful natural pergola, with guests watching seated on hay bales. After drinks and canopes, speeches took place outdoors, followed by games and lots of food, which they headed into their gorgeously decorated marquee for. Musician Jon’s musical friends provided the early evening entertainment on their outdoor open mic stage, before the night-time band took over in the marquee.
Jo and Jon put so much effort in to creating this gorgeous wedding, and were helped along by lots of generous and talented friends, who helped design the invites, make the food and cake, and arrange the flowers, plus provided all the music. Such a wonderfully special weekend-long wedding.
Many thanks to McKinley Rodgers for these truly gorgeous photos.
