Married: Jodie + Dan
Jodie comes from Huddersfield, but she and her husband Dan both work as teachers over in the Seychelles. They were planning their wedding back here in England, and Jodie emailed last summer and arranged to see me while she was back home visiting family over Christmas. She was keen to get a dress sorted while she was home, as well as finalising lots of other wedding details too.
Jodie had loved my Peony and Hollyhock designs online, but fell for the Peony separates when she came along to try on. We decided to add a deep V back to the lace top, and altered the shape of the front neckline a little to suit, but kept the slip and skirt exactly as per the original design. We also added a satin ribbon in a complementary blush tone to be tied at Jodie’s waist.
Jodie was due back in the UK just three weeks before their August wedding date, so I blocked out those weeks to work exclusively on her gown, having booked in the dates of her fittings by email in advance. Luckily, everything went extremely smoothly with the making, and Jodie and I had plenty of time to get to know each other better during her fittings, which was a total pleasure for me, as she’s one of the warmest and loveliest people I’ve met.
Jodie and Dan married at The Wold Top Brewery in North Yorkshire. The weather was kind to them (perhaps they brought the sunshine with them from the Seychelles?), and their outdoor ceremony and picnic lunch out on the grass were able to take place without a hitch. Jodie and Dan’s headteacher and close friend took on the role of celebrant, and married them in front of an emotional gathering of family and friends.
Jodie and Dan’s incredible photographer Yvonne Lishman snuck them off to cornfields and a nearby beach for some stunning portraits. She’s really done the most amazing job of capturing them – so much raw love and laughter in these images – they made me cry happy tears when I looked through them.
Thanks so much Yvonne Lishman Photography for these truly gorgeous images.
