Married: Lucy + Pete
Lucy loved the style and feel of my Honeysuckle bias-cut silk gown, but wanted to create a more simple, elegant version. We kept the overall silhouette the same, and created Lucy’s gown with a lower neckline and satin covered buttons down the back. She chose an ivory silk satin which worked perfectly against her olive skin and long dark hair. As our fittings progressed, we also decided to add some delicate lace edging to the gently curved V of the back neckline.
Lucy lives in London, so we planned ahead for our fittings to work on weekends she was up in Yorkshire visiting her parents, and her lovely mum Jane always came along too.
Although both Lucy and I are incredibly happy with the end result, we had a few obstacles to overcome along the way making this dress, and a less calm and collected bride would have struggled to maintain her cool! Lucy was the perfect client throughout, taking everything in her stride and always trusting in my ability to create the dress of her dreams. In some ways, those challenges make the end result all the more special – knowing all the hard work that I put in to make sure all ended well.
Lucy and Pete were married at Ellingham Hall in Northumberland – a totally stunning stately home which they took over for the weekend. Their wedding was an elegant affair: black ties for the men and five gorgeous bridesmaids in mismatched navy blue dresses. Decor was simple and classy – lots of green foliage, pinecones, logs and lanterns. Lucy and Pete’s huge smiles on every picture really say it all – a perfect wedding day surrounded by everyone they love the best.
Many thanks to 2 Tone Photography for capturing their day so perfectly.
