Ellie in Chrysanthemum

An understated wedding dress in silk georgette and Nottingham lace

I first met Ellie at The Un-wedding Show in Sheffield along with her partner Georgie, mum Nicky and rescue dog. Ellie was by no means over-the-moon at the idea of finding a wedding dress, but her mum and Georgie thought my understated designs might work for Ellie, and Nicky came along with her for an appointment a few weeks later.

Ellie decided on our Chrysanthemum gown, loving it so much more than she had thought possible. Chrysanthemum is a romantic, understated wedding dress made from three layers of silk – semi-sheer georgette, silk-satin, habotai silk lining – and trimmed around the neckline in Nottingham lace. These luxury fabrics really elevate this simple dress style, and the opulent full circle skirt is a joy to wear.

For Ellie we minimised the cut-out section at the back so that she could wear a bra and spent plenty of time getting the fit just right on the top. Ellie wore her chunky DMs on her feet and a flower crown on her head.

Georgie had chosen her dress long before Ellie did, and her sparkly and bohemian Needle and Thread gown was the perfect contrast to Ellie’s – the two brides looking so beautiful together.

A fun and colourful same-sex wedding with plenty of personality and a viral dog-videographer

Ellie and Georgie married at Ecclesall Woods Discovery Centre, enjoying the gorgeous green spaces outside for canapes and drinks before heading to The Cricket Inn for their reception. They put so much effort into the colourful details and styling for their celebration, wanting to make their guests feel as loved and special as they did on the day.

Entertainment was provided by Shell Suit Cher Bingo, which looks completely kitsch and hilarious. And Ellie’s family dog Bobby was their dog-videographer for the day, filming the celebration with a GoPro camera strapped to his back, and trying to steal plenty of canapes along the way. Bobby’s footage went viral on social media – you can see his best work here and here - such a good boy!

I’ll be brutally honest and say that dress shopping/fitting was one of things I was looking forward to the least, but with you it turned out to be one of my favourite parts of the wedding. I felt totally comfortable with you and you really listened to everything I said and just hit the nail on the head from start to finish. I truly couldn’t imagine ever being excited to wear a wedding dress but I absolutely loved it. So, just a massive thank you to you and the rest of the team!
