Rebecca in Sweet Violet

A coloured wedding dress for a laid-back and relaxed outdoor wedding

Rebecca had always known she wanted to wear yellow on her wedding day – its her favourite colour and makes her feel happy, so I was delighted to recreate one of my wedding dress designs in her chosen hue!

Rebecca decided on our bias-cut silk Sweet Violet gown, keeping the swooping cowl neck at the front, and swapping the open back from a curve to a V shape. I ordered a selection of silk samples to be posted out for Rebecca to choose from, and once she’d selected her favourite shade we set to work on her stunning yellow wedding dress.

Rebecca fell in love with the beautiful embroidered Daisy Sheldon veils I have in the studio, and worked with Daisy to have a bespoke version created in a modified palette that complemented her colourful wedding dress. Daisy included a mountain outline in the embroidery to reference both Rebecca and Patrick’s love of the outdoors and choice of wedding venue.

I love to work with non-traditional brides to create an alternative version of one of my wedding dress designs that feels just right for them, and making a coloured wedding dress like Rebecca’s is always such a joy.

A magnificent mountain location for this personal Lake District celebration

Rebecca and Patrick were married at the stunning Coppermines Mountain Wedding Venue. With magnificent views from every angle – to the Coniston fells above and Coniston water below – this really is a magnificent location in the Lake District. Rebecca and Patrick made sure their 200-guest wedding still seemed personal and intimate, with moving speeches and live music from their guests. And they made the most of the surrounding scenery for some gorgeous portraits.
