YOUR EXPERIENCE
Kate Beaumont gowns: Not Your Standard Wedding Dress Shopping Experience
Having a wedding dress handmade is an incredibly luxurious and personal journey. Each dress we create is an heirloom piece – made to the wearer’s specific requirements, full of emotional significance, and to be treasured always.
Our Sheffield studio houses my exclusive collection of wedding dresses and separates made from the finest quality silks, English tulles, and English and French laces. To me, how a dress feels when it’s on is just as important as how it looks, and my brides always comment on how gorgeous these luxury fabrics feel to wear.
Our initial bridal consultation is all about getting to know you. Held in private and lasting around an hour and a half, we’ll chat about your wedding plans, style, and the type of dress you want to wear while introducing you to the designs within my collection. Then you can try on as many as you like the look of! It’s a relaxed and friendly setting with zero sales techniques or judgement. Instead, you can expect a warm, inclusive approach, deep understanding, and gentle, personal guidance that aligns with your preferences and vision.
Considered. Adaptable. Yours.
As the antithesis of fast fashion, I create one new small collection of Kate Beaumont gowns biannually that sits effortlessly alongside what has come before. This means new styles mix seamlessly with the existing ones and avoids retiring much-loved, relevant designs for the sake of it.
The flexibility and handmade nature of my designs means they can be easily adapted to suit your style, ideas and figure. From changing a neckline, lowering a back or adding sleeves to teaming and layering beautiful bridal separates, we’ll support you every step of the way to create a look that’s wholeheartedly yours.
The desire to make our brides feel their true selves means we've expanded our fabric options beyond classic ivory, oyster, and metallic tones to bold alternatives like forest green, powder blue, and graphite grey. Plus, we stock a carefully curated selection of bridal accessories to further personalise your look and treasure beyond the big day.
Wedding Dresses Handmade With Heart In Sheffield
The studio is split into two parts, housing a showroom and a workroom, so my small but mighty team - Kate, Katie, Sarah, and Sarah - is on hand to assist with appointments where required.
We might all have similar names (it’s not a company requirement, just a happy coincidence), but we each bring our own dress-making skills and experience to the table, ensuring your dress is made and fitted to perfection.
Most dresses require around three fittings, which our brides find simple, stress-free and enjoyable, with the process following this sequence:
When commissioned, we take your measurements, along with a deposit, to enable us to begin working on your dress.
Approximately six months ahead of your wedding date, we start drafting your pattern and working on your toile – a mock-up of your wedding dress in your closest standard dress size.
Once we’re happy with the toile, we cut out your dress in the real fabric and tack it together by hand, then have another fitting and tweak the fit as required.
After that, the dress is sewn and finished, ready for you to re-try before taking it away for your special day.
For Brides Near & Far
We regularly have brides travel from as far as London, Glasgow and Belfast, to visit our Yorkshire bridal studio, but understand making the journey isn’t always possible. If you can’t attend appointments in person, we can arrange to run consultations and fittings online and post out toiles when required. This became a necessity during lockdown and worked out so well, we made it a permanent option. We’ve since designed and made dresses for brides as far-flung as the USA and Australia.
When To Book
Typically, we have a six-month lead time on making dresses, so I advise booking your initial consultation around 12 months before your wedding. That said, I’ll always do my best to fit in brides with tighter deadlines – my husband and I booked our wedding just three months in advance, so I appreciate that a long lead time isn’t always possible.
