Yuko
Dress details
Yuko was 12 weeks pregnant when she first got in touch to talk dresses. They’d booked their wedding before a baby was on the cards, and had decided to stick to the date, meaning their little one would be just 3 months old on their wedding day. Yuko chose her dress at that first appointment, and we compressed her fittings into the weeks after she’d given birth to their beautiful baby daughter Aya.
Yuko wore our Lunaria gown – the new version we created with a square front neckline, raised square back and a bow to keep the shoulders secure. We shortened the sleeve length to work better on her petite frame. She chose the paler ivory toned hammered silk-satin, and added one of our rose lace edged cape veils, which looked stunning on her.
Fittings always included tiny baby Aya, with Yuko’s partner John on hand to whisk Aya off for a walk in the sling while Yuko tried her dress on. These guys travelled up to me from St Albans, combining fittings with a trip to visit John’s family, so we had two fittings a few days apart to take advantage of the return journey too! And Yuko collected her finished gown on the way up to their wedding in Scotland.
The Wedding
Yuko and John had a dreamy, intimate Scottish wedding. Their vows were exchanged outdoors in Glencoe, with a humanist celebration that included elements to celebrate Yuko’s Japanese heritage. Afterwards they celebrated with loved ones at St Mary’s Wedding Space, Appin, with feasting and a ceilidh to get everyone dancing.
Kind Words
“I absolutely adored my dress, particularly the lace cape veil!!! I was so apprehensive how I'd look not so long after having a baby but I'm so glad we came to see you back in January whilst I was pregnant. I enjoyed the whole experience and me, John and Aya really loved chatting with you during all the appointments!” Yuko
