Jen opted for a bespoke thirties-inspired bias cut silk dress in a green-gold heavy silk. We added sparkle with a pair of bespoke golden Olivia accessories from Debbie Carlisle, which I attached at each shoulder like epaulettes.

The dress featured a deep V at the back, above a back tying sash and a puddle train. The front neckline was also a V, lightly gathered at the bust, with a gently curved waist panel: the sides of which extended to create the ties of the sash. The floor length skirt was also lightly gathered beneath the waist panel.

Jen accessorised with gold Rachel Simpson shoes and a hand embroidered metallic feather hair clip by Colette Malouf. Her four bridesmaids wore dresses made by her aunt in purple and deep red silk.

Jen and Joe were married at Walcott Hall in Shropshire – the most amazingly quirky venue – featuring incredible accommodation spread throughout the woodland, including a brightly painted wooden chapel where they spent their wedding night.

“From the first email I sent Kate was absolutely lovely, very helpful and throughout the whole process was always quick to respond. From the beginning, I knew I wanted a 1930s style dress, but I wasn't sure on the shape so we met to brainstorm ideas, before agreeing a bespoke design collaborating with Debbie Carlisle to make the gorgeously opulent capped sleeves. Kate came up with a very reasonable quote for such an incredible dress and off we went! We met up several times at her home throughout the time it took to make the dress and I was consulted with and carefully guided through every part of the process. Kate is passionate about vintage dressmaking, and was a real friend throughout: I would even consult with her on other details from the hairpiece I wore, to the right underwear (!) because I trusted and valued her opinion. I had complete faith in Kate from the beginning as she is incredibly talented and I'd seen her other creations, but she maintained throughout a care to always make sure I was 100% happy with everything. She allowed time for us to make little adjustments and refinements within the process, so that it all came together perfectly for the final creation. Kate is a one woman vintage dress dream machine - I could not recommend her highly enough.” Jen
