Corncockle dress
Romantic and ethereal, Corncockle is a laid-back wedding gown made from softest silk georgette and English lace. Simple and understated, with a gentle nod to the 1940s vintage tea dress. Silk covered buttons run all the way down the front, and Nottingham lace trim adds subtle detail. The lace is sourced from a family-run company, who’ve been making lace since 1845.
Design Details
Corncockle’s front neckline is cut in a flattering low V. Lace trim is appliquéd on top, continuing up around the shoulders to the top of the sleeves. Half sleeves are left unlined and semi-sheer, with more lace appliquéd at their hems.
The back has a high neckline, above a cutaway in an inverted V shape, covered with lace trim.
Corncockle’s top sits over a fitted waistband, and gathers into it gently in sections. The gathering is mirrored below the waistband in the skirt, which flows to the floor, cut with extra fullness and a puddle train at the back.
Silk covered buttons and roleau loops close up the dress at the front, finishing at knee-height to allow the skirt to split, revealing a flash of leg as the wearer moves.
