Established in 2012, I started the Kate Beaumont bridal label to create beautiful, handmade wedding dresses for relaxed, modern brides.

I focus on slow, deeply-considered design, luxurious materials, and a personal, supportive experience that helps each bride feel confident, comfortable, and truly themselves.

Our Yorkshire bridal studio isn’t pretentious, and the team isn’t pushy. Instead, we’re warm, honest and down-to-earth female creatives who’ll gently guide you through the wonderful experience of having your dress handmade - with understanding, laughter and (happy) tears as standard.

And they’re gentle on the planet, crafted individually in luxurious, eco-conscious materials that feel like a little piece of heaven against your skin.

We understand the big feelings that can come with choosing a wedding dress, so we’ve created an environment that’s luxurious yet laid-back. It’s been referred to “as a little retreat of wedding loveliness”, and brides have summed up their experience here as “calm”, “natural”, “dreamy”, “warm”, and “intimate”.

All appointments are held completely in private. So, you’ll feel at ease being your true self and can expect the same from me. I’ll settle any nerves, listen with compassion, advise with heart and join you in a moment of serious chat or pure silliness gladly.

Our making techniques are equally authentic. All designs are entirely handmade in Sheffield using the couture crafts(wo)manship skills of our talented team. It may not be the quickest process, but this slow, intentional approach avoids over-production and waste whilst guaranteeing quality, beauty and care.

Designer | I’m a people person first and a designer second.

My connections with my brides mean the most and bring me endless joy…closely followed by my love of creating beautifully feminine bridalwear.

I began designing wedding dresses after my best friend cunningly talked me into making hers. Though I had a first-class fashion degree, the industry's over-consumption and poor working conditions meant I fell out of love with it.

Creating Alexandra’s dress reignited my passion for design. I realised wedding dresses didn’t have to follow the strapless corset and poofy skirt formula - they could be subtle, elegant, and easy to wear. Even better, I could craft them on a small scale, combining everything I loved about making, all on my own terms.

Since establishing my label, I’ve designed dresses for 300+ brides, grown my team, and seen the Kate Beaumont name blossom in the industry - all of which I’m immensely grateful for.

When I’m not designing, I’m incredibly hands-on in the studio, managing appointments, pattern cutting, sewing, and tacking. I genuinely get to know each of my brides, and nothing beats creating a design that’s a beautiful celebration of them - their style, soul and their love.

Away from work, I have a funny, cherished son - Rex - and a lovely, supportive husband. James and I married in April 2012, with a beautiful humanist ceremony at a boutique hotel in the Peak District. We enjoyed homemade cakes, a lovely meal, and heartfelt speeches from our closest friends and family. It was a wonderfully emotional day. I wore my earliest design, Honeysuckle, which I still love dearly. You can view a few pictures from our wedding here.
